How OpenFlexure Is Supported
OpenFlexure is not a legal entity and cannot directly hold funds. It is a global open-source community. The most effective way to support OpenFlexure is by supporting the organisations that make up and sustain that community.
Humanitarian Technology Trust
A UK-registered charity established to steward and advance OpenFlexure’s core mission. The Humanitarian Technology Trust supports governance, infrastructure, coordination, and charitable fundraising. This is the most appropriate route for philanthropic grants and individual donations.
Academic Institutions
Universities such as the University of Glasgow and the University of Bath, alongside a wider international network of researchers, contribute research, engineering, software development, and performance evaluation. This work is typically supported through academic research funding and collaborations rather than direct donations.
Local Manufacturers
Independent manufacturers around the world adapt OpenFlexure designs for local production and use. Supporting manufacturers, particularly in developing quality systems and regulatory pathways, is essential for enabling locally produced, certified diagnostic devices.
The OpenFlexure Community
A global community of researchers, engineers, clinicians, educators, and makers who contribute designs, code, documentation, training materials, and peer support. Community activity is supported indirectly through HTT and other aligned non-profit and academic organisations.
